Date night

For those of you who know my Teddy know that one thing he and I have NEVER, in almost 27 years of marriage, shared was a movie. Now...we have rented our share of tapes ( hell we even used to rent the VCR machine when we could not afford to buy our own....yes kids at one point VCRs cost a lot of $$$$ ), DVD's and bought on demand movies. But to go to a theatre and watch on the big screen..... that was an indulgence I never shared with him. The last time he was in a movie theater.... opening weekend of The God Father in 1972. So when he mentioned that he really wanted to see Clint Eastwood's new movie Gran Torino, I jumped, leaped and hogtied him into agreeing to a Friday night viewing. Made easier by the fact that a common "reward" at the hospital is a pair of movie tickets so I have a stockpile of them.

I am no cinematic critic, and not even much of an acting critic, but I have to say...for a story involving an grouchy old man who has issues with his family..... good viewing. While the car is amazing to look at.... it really never gets the Star-ing role the title implies, although it is central to the story.

But better than the movie..... the feeling of sitting in a dark theater with the love of my life. We even tried to share a bucket of popcorn but had to leave over half of it to the floor sweepers...

Now I know he will never turn into Alex ( my nieces man who could go to two movies a night five nights a week) I am hoping it will not be 37 years before he goes back to the movies with me.

It was a good night..... no it was a GREAT night.....
